THE AUTHOR
Jo has always loved animals. As a volunteer at a local wildlife rescue she saw first hand the struggles facing Britain's wildlife - and fell in love with hedgehogs! After founding a not-for-profit community group called WildChiswick, Jo started campaigning to help hedgehogs in urban areas. The group campaigns and installing "hedgehog highways" across Chiswick to give hedgehogs access to the green spaces they require to eat, sleep and find a mate.
Jo was awarded the Zoological Society of London's Stamford Raffles Award for "distinguished contributions to zoology by amateur zoologists in recognition of contributions made outside of their main area of work" in 2025.
Jo hopes that the story of Snout will encourage others to do the same across Britain.
